Grant Accountant Full Time

Status: Full-Time-Exempt

Position Summary:

Seeking a self-directed individual that can work in a fast paced environment with multiple deadlines with minimal supervision. Grant Accountant will work closely with Grant Manger, CFO and program staff on implementing grants contracts and ensuring compliance and accurate financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Contributes to development of grant budgets, budget amendments, implementation plans, outcomes and deliverables for funding proposals. Provides input on process for monitoring and reporting based on grant application requirements.
• Responsible for monthly/ quarterly/ annual financial reporting to government agencies and other funders.
• Compiles information by reviewing programmatic reports in a timely manner to funding sources per contract requirements
• Develops and maintains grant record systems in all divisions by creating and/or revising forms as needed. Training all staff in proper documentation of client data
• Collaborates with program service providers by reviewing data collection forms and reviewing data for grant application process; overseeing two client services databases (in-house and state)
• Responsible for collaborating with staff to ensure timely completion for all grant deliverables.
• Researches regulations for all agency grants by reviewing regulatory notifications and other sources of information and maintaining a comprehensive list of reporting requirements for each contract/funding source
• Conduct meetings with program personnel and management to strategize on contract compliance issues; budget forecasting and budget revisions
• Represent organization with respect to periodic monitoring reviews performed by funders
• Represent organization in grant related hearings and workshops as needed
• Maintain current grant budget information in the accounting system for funding sources
• Review and analyze budget to actual information for the funding sources and provide program personnel with relevant information and recommendations for effective use of resources
• Monitor need for budget modifications and process required documents
• Review allowable grant related expenses on a monthly basis
• Coordinate with the Grants Compliance, Housing and Procurement Manager and program staff, to ensure transactions are properly recorded and agree to the grant/contract agreement, while also ensuring sub-recipient/subcontract financial activities adhere to deliverable deadlines. 
• Download invoices/ receipts and expenses related to various programs from venders accounts, recode expenses in financial software QuickBooks, and make the necessary allocations per grant contract. 
• Provide information to finance staff as necessary to assist in month close activities.
• Prepare invoices and requests for payments to funding agencies and reconcile grant expenses to funder report
• Ensure appropriate and on schedule grant spending
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• BBA/ BA/BS degree in Accounting from an accredited College/University  
• Strong technical knowledge and skills in double entry bookkeeping
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, Quick books is a must
• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to learn and work within agency procedures and guidelines
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in tracking sources of errors and in using established guidelines to determine the necessary corrective action
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
• Ability to manage and prioritize competing deadlines
• Minimum one year of experience in accounting or grant administration
